Fund’s actuary has determined the cost of living adjustment (COLA) will be 1% so members age 55+ and those receiving general disability benefits will see their monthly amount increase by 1% beginning with the October 31, 2020 benefit payment.

Harris County COVID Threat Level One STAY HOME

Level One means there is a severe & uncontrolled level of COVID-19 in Harris County. There has been a recent & continuing surge in cases so residents are advised to minimize contact with others whenever possible. Everyone should remain at home except for essential needs such as going to the grocery store for food or medicine. Board of Trustees 2020 Election

Houston Firefighters' Relief and Retirement Fund, created by state statute, gives the Board of Trustees responsibility to serve as Plan Administrator. The ten-member board consists of five active firefighters, one retired firefighter, two citizen members, the city treasurer and the mayor or their appointed representative. Elections are held annually for expiring firefighter positions.

HFRRF cancels all face-to-face meetings until further notice

Out of an abundance of caution amid the coronavirus pandemic, we are proactively taking steps to protect the health and safety of our members, staff and visitors. All face-to-face meetings at the HFRRF pension office are cancelled until further notice. HFRRF staff will be available during regular business hours to assist our members by phone and via email.

Chairman's Message

Dear Members: The Texas Supreme Court has denied HFRRF’s appeal to it’s original lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of SB2190 effectively ending our recourse in that specific case.  As previously announced several months ago, HFRRF has filed a second lawsuit with respect to SB2190’s constitutionality predicated upon different legal arguments.
