The Rescue

Noted local sculptor, David Adickes, designed a memorable bronze statue on a four-sided granite base portraying a firefighter's rescue as he is locked in on a ladder while handing down a baby to another firefighter on the ground. The base of the sculpture memorializes all firefighters lost in the line of duty.

Line of Duty Death Stories

Retired HFD member and volunteer historian Scott Mellott continues to research all HFD Line of Duty Deaths stories. He compiled these stories with help from the City of Houston, numerous firefighters and their families for the annual Houston Firefighters’ Memorial and he has graciously agreed to allow us to share it here. If you have questions, suggestions, or helpful historical information for Scott, please feel free to email him at scottmell@att.net. Thanks to Scott for honoring the memories of these Houston heroes!
